HOW TO STENCIL
The stencils come as either half or quarter circle designs that have repeat markers around the edges to help you repeat the pattern to create one full circular mandala.
See product images for more details.
Position the stencil in place using some decorator's tape.
Use normal wall emulsion paint or chalk paint for the stencilling. You can use a small dense foam roller or a stencil brush to apply the paint, but don't forget to follow the 'Less Is More' rule - see below.
Apply the paint to the first half/quarter then remove the stencil. Rotate either 180 or 90 degrees and align the stencil onto previously painted pattern in order to repeat the design. Repeat 2 more times for the quarter circle stencil until you have your full circle design.
Once finished you can clean your stencil in some warm soapy water and store away to be used again!
Basic stencil instructions are included with each purchase.
LESS IS MORE!
The number one mistake most people make when stencilling for the first time is using way too much paint, this leads to bleeding under the stencil, and no one wants fuzzy lines! It’s surprising how little paint you actually need. Apply a small amount of paint to your roller, and then roll off any excess paint on a scrap bit of paper/card. Your sponge needs to be touch dry, so paint only comes through when you apply pressure. The same applies when using a stencil brush. Practice first on some spare paper or card before attempting your project.
You don’t just buy a stencil when you buy from Dizzy Ducks!
