HOW TO STENCIL
If you want to create a half wall border effect then firstly use decorator's masking tape to tape off the lower part of the wall. Don't forget to use a spirit level to make sure your lines are straight!
Once the paint has dried, peel off the tape. You can now stencil across the top of the border aligning the bottom of the stencil with the top of the painted border.
The stencil has smaller repeat parts of the pattern that you can overlay over previously painted pattern, nice and easy to repeat the pattern!
All you need is a little paint and we would recommend using a small sponge roller, it will be much quicker than using a stencil brush or sponge. Unless you want to apply different colours to your design, then go for several different brushes for each colour.
Basic stencil instructions are included with each order but if you need any more hands on advice please do get in touch, we’re always happy to advise.
LESS IS MORE!
The number one mistake most people make when stencilling for the first time is using way too much paint, this leads to bleeding under the stencil, and no one wants fuzzy lines! It’s surprising how little paint you actually need. Apply a small amount of paint to your roller, and then roll off any excess paint on a scrap bit of paper/card. Your roller needs to be touch dry, so paint only comes through when you apply pressure. The same applies when using a stencil brush or a sponge dabber. Practice first on some spare paper or card before attempting your project.
