OUR STENCILS…
are designed and produced in the UK here at Dizzy Duck HQ!

Dizzy Duck Designs Stencils are an effective and inexpensive way to spruce up tired or plain walls, tiles, floors or furniture.  We provide a wide range of reusable home decor stencils for painting.  Whatever your stencil project, large or small and whatever style you prefer, we’ve got the perfect stencil for the job!

SPEED UP YOUR PROJECT
If you have a larger project then maybe buy 2 stencils and save time. Stencils need cleaning after several applications as paint builds up. This causes bleed under the stencil creating blotchy lines which you do not want!
To clean the stencil we recommend soaking in warm soapy water until the paint easily rubs off, no vigorous scrubbing needed! Soak one stencil clean while you continue your project with the other stencil. Check out our current multi purchase discounts.

If you need more than one stencil don't forget we have a 10% discount when buying 2+ items, a 15% discount for 3+ items and a 20% discount for 4+ items!

NEXT DAY DISPATCH
All orders placed before 3pm are usually shipped the next day.

UK SHIPPING
Royal Mail First Class £3.  We ship tracked internationally too!  Click here for more info on order dispatch and delivery.

STENCILLING FLOORS
1. Good prep is key!
Thoroughly sand and clean first. This will provide a good key for subsequent primers, paints etc.
2. Prime
Apply 2 coats of primer. We use Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Primer - it can be used on multiple types of surfaces and is water-based too, so much nicer to work with than oil based primers! You can buy it at either B&Q or Screwfix.
3. Basecoat/Stencilling
For the basecoat and stencilling you can use either normal wall emulsion paint or a specialist floor paint.  Our customers have used both these types of paint with amazing results.
Tape the stencil to the surface using some decorator's tape. For a multi-colour finish you will need a few stencil brushes, one for each colour. But don't forget to follow the 'Less Is More' paint rule - see below.
There are repeat pattern markers on the stencil you can use to create an even all over design.
4. Seal
Once stencilled, protect all your hard work with several coats of a polyurethane varnish. We and many of our customers have used Polyvine Heavy Duty Extreme Varnish but any good quality floor varnish will be just as good.

Basic stencil instructions are included with each purchase but do get in touch if you need any more help.

STENCILLING WALLS
Just follow Step 3 above.  No need to prime or to seal.

LESS IS MORE!
The biggest mistake most people make when stencilling is overloading the brush or roller with paint. This will inevitably lead to paint bleeding underneath the stencil and causing blurry edges. You will be surprised how little paint is actually needed! Don’t overload paint onto the brush/roller and rub most of the paint off onto a piece of card before applying to the stencil. Practice first on some spare paper or card before attempting your project.
